“Surprise” Roses

Filed under: Family, Socks — by Heather @ 6:28 pm

I received a very special surprise yesterday at work.

4th Anniversary Roses

It was our fourth wedding anniversary yesterday. Not so long, but it feels longer, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Josh can’t keep anything a surprise, so I had a pretty good idea that I would get some flowers yesterday. Maybe it was the fact that he said, “You’re going to get a surprise delivered at work today that I think you’re going to like….I can’t wait for you to get your surprise…etc.” It was a nice gift and it’s not something that I get often, so it was wonderful, even if it wasn’t exactly a surprise.

Knitting:

I’m still working on the Embossed Leaves socks. I have one done and I’m past decreasing on the gusset on the other. I’m going to make Josh a pair of socks when I’m done, using one of these:

Sock Yarn for Josh

The blue is more of a blue-grey. I haven’t used KP Essential for quite awhile. These skeins are the newer, softer version. I’ll probably use one of the patterns from SKS, or maybe the Moc Croc pattern from KP. I would love to use one of the patterns from Favorite Socks, but I need to get that returned to the library.

(Special thanks to Nicole who clued me in on the close up feature on my camera!)

I’m also thinking of making Wicked. On Monday I get to go to the not-so-LYS, and I’m going to look at some yarn there. I would like something that I can wear during the summer when it’s chilly, but cotton tends to be heavy, so I don’t know.

Reading:

Nothing new. During the week I can’t stay awake long enough to get any reading done.

  1. Awww, pretty flowers!

I’ve been wanting a summer knit out of a cotton-silk blend ever since I couldn’t find the right size cotton-silk wrap sweater in some fancy store downtown. It felt so delicious, I’d love to work with yarn like that.

  3. Beautiful flowers!

I am knitting Wicked out of KnitPicks CotLin and I really like it! Also, the Shine Worsted would be really good with that pattern.

  4. knittygurl, I actually thought about using Shine Worsted. But, my other experience with it for a baby cardigan is that it was a bit heavy. I would worry that it would really drag down, especially with the boatneck and instead of getting a nice, fitted look, it would be saggy and lifeless. I loved Shine for the cardigan I did, but the way a baby wears a sweater is different than how I would wear one. But, I will check out CotLin. I’ve only looked at the KP CotLin site once and none of the colors jumped at me, but I’ll give it another look.

Thanks for the well wishes, eusebius!

Cotton-silk…Now there’s something I hadn’t thought of. I’ll see what I can find at the LYS. Thanks for reminding me of my options, Liz.
