I finished the 12K! I didn’t really ever think that not finishing was an option, but it’s still pretty cool. It was harder than I thought, but easier, too. There were 44,000 people racing, which made it hard at times. Obviously, we didn’t all go at once. I was with the second to the last group to go, based on my estimated finish time. At first, I was able to jog along nicely. But, as the race went on, the walkers took up the entire road, so I would have to weave in and out, which was a pain. I didn’t jog the entire thing, but I think I probably did 5 of the 7.5 miles. There were two small hills and one huge one and I walked all of those. But, the actual distance wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. There were bands playing all along the way, and tons of people, which made it fun and interesting. In addition to a nice t-shirt of the event, I have a nice sunburn to go along with it.
Unofficial time: 1 hour, 45 minutes-That’s only a guess. I’ll find out my official time later this week.
ETA: Official Time- 1 hour, 43 minutes. A pace of 13:55, which is slower than I usually go, but okay considering the crowd and hills. I’m totally doing it next year, and I may do a 5K this weekend. I feel just fine, though the muscles in my feet are sore. Weird. No blisters, no other soreness, just my feet muscles.
Well done you! It sounds like a fab experience and one you can learn from. Are you shattered or on a high? LOL

Great work!!! Big races are so much fun. So what’s next?

Yay for you! Why don’t they make the walkers stay on the right side, like on escalators and moving sidewalks and (in theory, not always in practice) multi-lane highways?

Congratulations! That’s such a great achievement. Pamper your feet… you deserve it.
