It’s Christmas Eve…

Filed under: Family, Socks, Yarn — by Heather @ 1:58 pm

And I got everything done on my knitting list that needed to be done.  I didn’t do any of the things that I was contemplating, which is good.  Everything got done and I’m back to knitting for myself, with no deadlines.

Things like this:

Hill Country Yarn- Blueberry Wine 12-07

That’s Hill Country Yarn in Blueberry Yarn, given to me by a very good friend who accepts my obsession and shopped at The Loopy Ewe, even though she’s not a knitter.

I think my tension/gauge issue is slowly being resolved.  I’m knitting tighter, that’s for sure.  I knit a Hot Waffle Mitt without doing a gauge swatch (of course) and found it a little too small.  So, I took it apart and have knit a gauge swatch.  I haven’t measured it yet to see exactly what my gauge is doing.  It’s better, that’s for sure.

And, we got a new bed!  We’ve upgraded from a 12 year old, $200 queen sized mattress set, to a brand new, king sized mattress set that cost considerably more than $200.  It’s heaven.

New Bed 12-07

That’s Punky, the bulemic cat on the bed.  He looks a little like Punky, the Devil Cat in that picture, but he’s the sweetest of our three cats.  He’s almost like a very low maintenance dog; he comes when you call for him, and just wants to be loved.  The down side is that he tends to throw up after he eats.  His sweetness generally makes up for the puke.

We’re going to have a small Christmas Eve dinner and then go look at Christmas lights before Santa makes an appearance.  We’re off to visit my dad and his family on the 26th and we won’t be back until the 30th, and I plan on being a better blogger after that.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

Taking Stock

Filed under: Uncategorized — by Heather @ 3:48 pm

I’m a procrastinator. I always have been and I’d like to think that it’s worked well for me. However, Christmas is looming. I’ve put off rounding up all of the Christmas knitting I’ve done so far and taking stock. Last night I pulled everything out and looked at it all.

Finished:

-5 dishcloths (need to weave in the ends)

-1 pair of Fetching fingerless gloves (need to weave in the ends and mail next week)

-about 6 small sock ornaments (I need to put some kind of hanging device on 4 of them)

Need to do by Dec. 21:

-2 more dishcloths

-at least one more pair of Fetching

Need to have done by Dec. 25:

-Josh’s socks (I’m on the foot of the second sock)

I’m thinking about doing:

-a pair of socks for LouLa (Need to be done by Dec. 25)

-sock ornaments for all nine of my kids at school (I have an extra ornament, so in theory I have a head start on them, but they would need to be done by Dec. 21)

Making lists always makes me feel better. I can do the Fetching and the dishcloths over the weekend, especially if I start on the dishcloths this week. I can do a sock ornament in an evening. I can put off finishing Josh’s socks until the weekend of the 22nd.

Well, it’s possible, right?

Done/Not Done

Filed under: Family, General Knitting — by Heather @ 7:53 pm

Things that got done this weekend:

-New pellet stove put in.  Yay!  It’s our only source of heat and since we got 5+ inches of snow, it was very much needed.  It’s a much newer, updated model, and so nice.

-I made a Christmas list for Josh.  We do each other’s stockings for Christmas, rather than gifts.  I’m still waiting for his list.

-Bought a doll house for LouLa.  I’ve pretty much gotten all of her gifts, though I still need to find things for her stocking.

-Christmas pictures of LouLa taken.  We’ll get them in a couple of weeks.

Things that didn’t get done this weekend:

-Snow tires put on the car.  Yeah, not such a good thing with the 5+ inches of snow we got.  There’s also a Winter Storm Warning in effect through tomorrow night.  Oh well.

-Christmas knitting.  Actually,  not much knitting got done, period.  I did make some headway on Josh’s socks, but not much.  I’ll get more done tonight, but I need to get a move on.

-Other Christmas shopping.  I’m behind.  I’m really far behind.  Ninety percent of the gifts need to be mailed out.  Hm, I guess I’d better get on that.

-Pictures taken for the blog.  Nothing here, as you can see.

I’m crossing my fingers, hoping for a snow day tomorrow.  That’ll mean we have to make it up in June, and I’ll whine about it then, but I could use another day to my weekend.
