I would like to show something

But, I can’t find the cord that connects my camera to the computer.  It’s around here someplace.  I remember cleaning up some time in the last month and picking a place to put it so that it wouldn’t get lost.  Unfortunately, I can’t remember where that place is.  I do that a lot.  It’ll turn up, I know, but in the meantime, there aren’t any pictures.

That isn’t to say that I haven’t been knitting.  I finished up a pair of socks for my mom using the Felici yarn from Knit Picks.  I did them in Clay, which isn’t the prettiest color, but my mom saw me knitting them and asked if I could do a pair for her.  She tried on what I had knitted and it fit.  I did like the yarn.  It’s probably the same base as the Essential sock yarn, which I also like.  Speaking of Knit Picks….I’m loving the Essential Kettle Dyed yarn as well as the Imagination Hand Painted yarn.  I especially love the colorway names of the Imagination line.  So cute!  And so sold out!  It figures.

I’m still working on the baby sweater.  I’ve finished up the main body and have separated for the sleeves.  I’m working on the sleeves now, which shouldn’t take too long.  I need to get going, because LouLa’s teacher looks like she could pop any day now.  I know that she won’t need or necessarily want a wool baby sweater for a few more months, but I would like to be able to give it to her either before or soon after the baby is born.

Right now, I am totally enjoying “Quiet Time” at our house.  Every day, after lunch, LouLa goes into her room for 30 minutes to an hour and plays quietly by herself.  It’s heaven.  She stopped taking naps around Christmas time and I really missed the afternoon silence that I had come to depend on.  This summer I instituted Quiet Time.  I was a little worried that she would refuse, but I began by making any afternoon television conditional on her staying in her room and playing quietly.  Sometimes I still need to remind her, but most of the time she’ll happily go and play.  There have even been times when she’s made a fuss when I’d have to tell her that Quiet Time was over because we had an appointment or something.  It’s not as if she doesn’t play by herself other times throughout the day, but there’s sometime magical about this time.

LouLa and I will be gone next week, visiting my dad and his family.  She’s been pretty good this summer about bouncing back from the spoilage that comes with grandparents.  Of course, neither of my parents go over the top too much, and they respect my wishes as a parent.  I also let some things go a little more than I would at home.  She has told me that “Grandma has different rules,” and she seems to understand that idea and is okay with it.

This is a little rambling, I know.  I’ll work on finding that cable.
